Jay brings over 35 years of experience in the building trade to every project. Educated locally at the Academy at Charlemont, Greenfield Community College, and UMass Amherst, Jay has built a career grounded in a deep understanding of both the technical and structural aspects of construction. He also possesses an innate sense of design, seamlessly blending function with beauty in his work. Jay’s hands-on approach and attention to detail make him an invaluable leader, guiding the team with both expertise and passion. Outside of work, whether he’s working the land or enjoying the natural world, Jay’s connection to the environment is at the heart of his approach to both life and business.
Jake Orzechowski | Partner
Jake joined JPH from Plymouth State University and grew up in the Hilltown area. With a natural drive and determination, Jake quickly made his mark at JPH, starting as a laborer. His potential was clear from the beginning, and he soon took on the role of Project Manager, where he thrived. Today, Jake is a full partner, bringing a blend of enthusiasm, organization, and focus to the team. Outside of work, Jake is passionate about the outdoors—whether skiing, fishing, camping, or hiking, he’s always enjoying the beauty of nature.
Jen Heilman | Lead Designer & Assistant Production Manager
Jen is the Lead Designer for Firehouse Design, a division of JPH Building, Inc., and also serves as the Assistant Production Manager for JPH Building Inc. She studied architecture and interior design at Vermont Technical College and Montana State University, earning degrees that shaped her 25-year career in the design-build industry. Jen brings a deep understanding of well-designed, well-loved living environments to the team, creating spaces that are both functional and inviting. When she’s not immersed in design, she enjoys spending time at home and exploring the outdoors near where she lives.
Laura Allen | Office Manager
Laura is the Office Manager for JPH Building Inc., excelling in this integral role with her strong organizational skills and keen understanding of the behind-the-scenes complexities we encounter daily. Her attention to detail and ability to keep things running smoothly make her a valued part of the team. Laura is also revered at JPH for her creative cooking skills and proudly holds the title of our resident ‘foodie’—making Monday morning meetings something to look forward to! When she’s not working (or cooking for the JPH team!), you can find her enjoying time at home with her family or out to dinner with friends.
Courtney allen | Project Manager & Production Assistant
Courtney’s journey with JPH began during her high school capstone project when she spent a day at our office to explore the Design-Build industry. Her enthusiasm and drive stood out immediately, and we knew she was a perfect fit for our team. Since then, her dedication and hard work have propelled her into the dual role of Project Manager and Production Assistant. She plays a key role in keeping projects running smoothly, ensuring quality and efficiency from start to finish. Outside of work, Courtney is always up for an adventure, making the most of her time with friends and exploring new experiences.
Michael Tarantino | Lead Draftsperson
Michael joined JPH after studying Architecture at UMass Amherst, bringing his passion for design and a deep curiosity about building to the team. He excels at drafting and bringing projects to life in 3D, ensuring every detail is thoughtfully considered and expertly executed. His ability to transform concepts into tangible designs makes him a key player in our creative process. Outside of work, Michael is an avid rock climber, always seeking new challenges. His adventurous spirit and love for exploration inspire his approach to both design and life.
